Printed & Digital Materials
The DiMenna-Nyselius Library utilizes various spaces in the building to promote Library resources, services, and events. The Library will also consider requests from Fairfield University departments and student organizations for select areas and times, with priority given to Academic Commons departments located within the building.
Doors, walls (with exception of bulletin boards), floors, bathroom stalls, and other spaces not identified in this policy, should not be used as advertising or event direction signage by any departments other than the Library.
All display of materials is also subject to the Library’s Exhibit Policy.
Printed Materials
Two bulletin boards are available on the main level for University departments/orgs to pin flyers directly. One is located within the Weil Cafe, and the other is near the Popular Reading Collection near the main entrance.
The Library lobby and Weil Cafe are available for the short-term placement of pull-up banners advertising Fairfield University events/services/initiatives. Requests must be sent to the Head of Library Outreach & Communications, in advance, with a suggested start and end date for display. Requesters must place the approved banner and pick up at the agreed upon date. The Library assumes no responsibility for storing banners.
- Due to the lobby’s use for events, tours, and high volume of visitor foot traffic, the lobby can only accommodate 2-3 banners at a time. One banner should always be the Academic Commons banner, listing all departments in the building. Academic Commons departments and the Office of the Provost will receive priority to use the remaining space.
- The table in the cafe, next to the WEPA printer, may be used for small table-sized pull-up banners. Occasionally the Library staff may move a lobby banner to the cafe as well.
Only Library-approved publications are permitted on the Library Services & Information Desk. These include the Library newsletter, Fairfield Magazine, and The Fairfield Mirror, the student newspaper.
The Library has the right to remove any printed materials that are not affiliated with the University or out of date.
Digital Materials
The TV monitor in the lobby pulls the date, time, Library social media feed, and event data from the Library’s event calendar. A limited number of graphics for Library services and resources are also on rotation, which are generated by the Library. Digital signage in the lobby is reserved for the Library and members of the Academic Commons. Library and Academic Commons staff who wish to have images displayed on the digital signage should contact Lisa Thornell, Head of Library Outreach & Communications at lthornell@fairfield.edu
